Oiselle at New York Fashion Week!

My Twitter feed was going wild last week with updates of the wonderful Oiselle ladies strutting their stuff down the runway at New York Fashion Week. Oiselle debuted its Spring/Summer 2014 line at the NOLCHA Fashion Week. I had to Google it, but NOLCHA fashion week is, according to their website, “a leading award winning event, held during New York Fashion Week, for independent fashion designers to showcase their collections to a global audience of press, retailers, stylists and industry influencers.” In sum – it was a pretty big deal for Oiselle to be headlining!

One of my absolutely favorite parts about Oiselle is that it uses real runners (and Oiselle staff) to model its apparel. From Oiselle’s website, here are the models/runners/employees who walked the catwalk:

I’m not sure the runway has sever seen so many abs. For example, check out Lauren Fleshman ( who won the national 5000-meter title in 2006 and 2010, and placed 7th in the event at the 2011 world championships and is sponsored by Oiselle) who just give birth in June – abs for days (photo credit from Women’s Health article about Oiselle at NOLCHA)!

The big surprise that came out of the show was Oiselle debuting functional yet feminine SWIM SUITS!  My personal favorite (photo credit):

I was absolutely blown away by Oiselle’s presence and success at New York Fashion Week. It was the only running brand to be featured and I believe they led the way to more running friendly apparel being viewed as a form of fashion rather than just function.

I really wanted to go to this – I’ve never been a big “fashionista” but I sure am for running clothes 🙂 And Lauren is rippped! Incredible.
