Nothing makes me happier when I hear back from people who participate in my 21 Day Fix Challenge Groups and it changes their lives. Nerissa came to me last year because had recently had her second daughter and was finding it hard to eat healthy and workout consistently (this is a story I hear a lot!). She joined a 21 Day Fix challenge group and went all in and her results were incredible – not just physically but also emotionally and mentally. I interviewed Nerissa about her experience with the Beachbody programs she completed as well as our challenge groups (she participated in several back to back, as all customers are welcome to do!). What program did you do?
21 Day Fix and 21 Day Fix Extreme
Why did you decide to join the challenge group?
I didn’t even know the challenge groups existed when I was inquiring about Shakeology and the 21 Day Fix program. When offered to join a group I was excited with the possibility to have a community that both was motivating and most importantly, gave me accountability.
What was your biggest obstacle during the program and how did you overcome it?
The nutrition portion was my biggest obstacle. I did well during the week but come the weekend there always seemed to be an event or a holiday. I made it a priority to always plan before I went anywhere. I checked out food menus before I went anywhere and packed healthy snacks to have on hand for just in case.
What would you say was your biggest struggle prior to the program?
My biggest struggle prior to beginning the program was portion control. I was taking care of a defiant 2 year old and a new baby who cried all the time causing me to stress eat. Having a plan to tell me how much and what to eat helped tremendously by making me aware of what I was consuming.
What was your favorite workout and why?
I’d say ABC Extreme [a bonus workout from the 211 Day Fix Extreme program]. I love a workout that gets your core really good while working other parts of your body as well.
How did completing the program make you feel?
Excited, empowered and accomplished! I had a major boost in self esteem, my feelings towards my own body image began to shift in a positive direction and I just had an overall sense of increased self worth!
Share any physical results and the timeframe that you achieved them in.
I lost a total of 22 pounds and 21 inches in about 4 months and after 4 rounds of 21 Day Fix/21 Day Fix Extreme.
What was your favorite thing about the challenge group itself (not the workout program, the actual community of the challenge group)?
The support and accountability of the people in the group were key to my success. After my first challenge group I felt like a had made multiple new friends and had never met any of them. Their words of encouragement and their own personal motivational stories were inspiring and kept me excited to keep going and push myself even harder. Having a start and an end date to each challenge group was extremely helpful for me as well. This made my goals feel achievable without a long commitment that I didn’t see sustainable, especially juggling two young kids. I can say for sure that without the challenge groups I would have no where near the success with these programs as I did.
