Mike and I have been working on a little side project as of late. We noticed that many of the marathon and half marathon search websites are a bit hard to navigate. With cluttered sidebars full of advertisements and crazy colors, it was hard not to get distracted while navigating the pages. So we came up with a concept – a clean marathon search page that starts with a map and not much else. Click your state (or multiple states), select your time frame and hit search. Ta-Da! You have a wonderful list of potential start-lines to toe.
We present to you marathon-finder.com with the simple tag line: Find Your Next Marathon and DO IT!

I don’t ask for much often, but I would love for my readers to check out the website and let me know what you think. You can either leave a comment here or email us at nwoyski at gmail dot com. Also I will love you forever if you like our page on Facebook and follow us on Twitter! I might name my first-born child after you if you decide to write a blog post about our site as well.
If the marathon site is a success, we will roll it out to other events, starting with half marathons.
Would you use it? Are we missing any races that you know of?
Very cool! The most exhaustive list of marathons that I’ve seen recently is the calendar on the marathon maniacs website. Not pretty to navigate but includes races of all sizes, not just the big ones you can find on active.

I LOVE THIS SITE! I think it’s precise and to the point just the way a marathon search should be. When that feeling hits you and your hand is sweaty while holding your credit card, the last thing you need is to have to open up 3 tabs for 3 different sites to find your next marathon. Great job!
I like it.
Just a couple of suggestions:
When you click on a state, the list should populate from just that state. If the user wants to multi-select states, they have the option with the checkboxes on the right.
I like it’s simplicity and it’s easily navigated. The slide bar for date range is awesome.
In the future you might think about adding a small screen shot link next to the list of marathons that come up in the search results. You know, kind of like eBay has a defining picture for the item? You should be able to use an easy javascript applet to capture the homepage of the attached link.
Also, you could add a drill-down for zip codes that would give the user a range; like ‘search within 10, 50, 100 miles of zip code xxxxx.’
Sorry, the programmer in me is coming out!!
Great job. It’s definitely something I’ll bookmark and use.
Thank you so much for the feedback! Those are great suggestions!
Wow- great site and such a great idea!
I like that it is clean, and easy to navigate! I only had trouble trying to move the dates on my iPad. But on my computer it’s super easy!
Brilliant work to you two!
You can expect a blog shout out soon – CONGRATS on the site!!
I always liked the name Page…. haha thank you!
