The Next Adventure – Who is Coming With Me?!

insanity max 30 and running

While I am still grieving over the results of the Mountains 2 Beach Marathon and getting over my illness, one thing is for sure – I know I will come out of this stronger. The tough thing about marathons is that we can’t just go run another one in a week, or even a month, and expect a better result, even if our last race wasn’t reflective of our fitness or training. Marathons require recovery and right now I’m doing just that, in the form of sitting on my butt and literally doing nothing.

But, I have plans! Don’t worry, you know me –  I already made these plans before the marathon and the exciting thing is that you can join me!!!

As you know, I’ve been hooked on 21 Day Fix (and the Extreme version) for over a year. I’ve dabbled in other programs but keep going back to it. Well, now I’m finally committing to a different program and I’m really excited about it! I can’t wait to start a program and follow the plan and watch my body change and get stronger.

On June 12th, super trainer Shaun T is releasing one brand new workout per day on Beachbody on Demand (think of this like the Netflix of workouts – all Beachbody programs available plus special bonus content for an annual fee). My virtual accountability group is going to do these workouts together for one full week. At the end of the week, we are all going to commit to another Shaun T program for the next four weeks. I’m really excited for a change and for some renewed motivation in my challenge group!

Before we start, some of the challengers will be competing the optional 3 Day Refresh Cleanse. I did the cleanse back in January and thought it was a great way to kickstart some healthier eating habits, especially after times of indulging. I like that it includes real food and isn’t all shakes – you get 4 shakes a day (with fruit in some of them) plus lunch and dinner that consists of veggies, fruit sand a portion of fat (I almost always chose avocado).  I’ve decided to do my cleanse June 7th-9th and I’m looking forward to resetting, getting some new recipe ideas from the program and setting some healthier habits. You can read more about the 3 Day Refresh and my results from last time here. ‘

The Shaun T program I’ve decided to commit to is called Insanity Max 30. Max 30 is a 5 day a week, 30 minute a day strength and cardio conditioning program. The program is geared for people who like to set goals and reach them (hello, me!) becuase each week you are tested to your “max” and then you will try to beat your old best max time each week. I’m looking forward to the challenge! I like that it is only 5 days a week so I can get in other workouts as well and that it’s just 30 minutes but incredibly efficient (I hear being soaked with sweat is very normal) – huge perks for me! The nutrition plan that goes along with it is similar to 21 Day Fix in that it uses the color-coded containers, but the actual portions are a little different.

Your other choices for Shaun T programs to complete during the challenge group. All these programs use body weight only and no weights are required. All have a modifier to help those who aren’t ready for the full moves:

  • Focus T-25: 5 Days a Week, 25 minutes a day. The least intense of these three.
  • Cize: 30-45 minute hip-hop dance style workouts, 4 weeks long. The most beginner friendly.
  • Insanity: 6 day a week 30 minute high intensity workouts for month 1, 45-60 minutes for month 2. MAX Interval Training—you perform long bursts of maximum-intensity exercise with short periods of rest. This includes strength and cardio, but is very heavy on the legs. Hardest of the Shaun T workouts.

I’ll also be running along with Insanity Max 30, at what mileage, I’m not exactly sure, but I’ll be sure to report back. Running will just be about fun – whatever I want to run, whenever I want to run. Ideally, with as many friends as possible! I need a break from running, but I never need a break from working out (well unless the last 3 days of sitting on my butt count).

To sum it up, my next challenge group begins June 12th but the group itself will open up a week early for those doing the cleanse:

  1. Any 3 Days During the Week of June 5th – Optional 3 Day Refresh Cleanse
  2. Week of June 12th – Shaun Week. Brand new Shaun T workout released daily! Energy in the group will be at an all time high!
  3. 4 Weeks Beginning June 19th – Shaun T Program of your choice.

In order to get access to Shaun Week and and the Shaun T program of your choice, you’ll want to purchase Beachbody on Demand All Access. The beauty of this is that you get access to all the Beachbody workouts, including 21 Day Fix and 21 Day Fix Extreme, for $2.50 a month when you purchase it along with Shakeology.

Who is up for the challenge!? If you have 4th of July plans – don’t worry, we can work around it and you can still enjoy the challenge and have great results (or simply plan to wrap it up in time for the holiday). Plus, these workouts can be done from any mobile device or computer and you don’t need any equipment so you can get your sweat on during any vacation.

To reserve your spot and get more info on signing up, fill out this form (please mention Shaun week in the goals section) or email me at fitnessfataleblog@gmail.com. If you’ve done a challenge group with me before, please don’t hesitate to join! If you already have Beachbody on Demand All Access, you’re all set! Just contact me and I’ll get you in!

PS If you have been itching to do 21 Day Fix and want to do that, I also have a 21 Day Fix group starting June 12th that I’m co-hosting with one of my new coaches.

Let’s do this!!!
