Hi guys! Sorry for the crickets. It’s been a crazy month with buying our home, moving, unpacking and a lot more! Last weekend I ran my first trail half marathon, the Raptor Ridge Trail Half Marathon and I had a BLAST!!! Trail running is where it’s at! I actually laughed because I went to look up my results last night and turns out they don’t even report results except for at the finish line. Trail running isn’t for the Type A, folks! Anyway, still working on my recap but look for it soon! The short version is that I will definitely be signing up for another trail race!
Let’s catch up with a coffee date. If we were having coffee I’d tell you…
We’re almost moved in. But not quite! We got like 80% of the way there and that last 20% is taking forever! I guess we’ve been in the house less than a month and have been out of town for one weekend so I can give myself some slack!
Siena’s birthday week was a blast! Yes, I’m already encouraging my daughter to celebrate her birthday for a full week. It all started becuase my dad and step mom couldn’t make it to our family birthday dinner so they visited about a week before her birthday and brought presents. Then on Siena’s actual birthday we celebrated all day including a new tradition of going to the pumpkin patch and having her pick out a pumpkin. And last, yesterday we went to the Safari Park and then finally last night we had Mike’s family, my mom and Asia over for a birthday dinner for Siena. She absolutely LOVED it and although she still doesn’t fully comprehend what exactly a birthday is, she knows that it’s something really fun.
I’ve been struggling to commit to a workout routine. Ever since I committed to Shift Shop back in July, I haven’t committed to another program. I dabbled in some programs and then decided to try a modified Shift Shop again, but with the move and putting running as a priority with my race coming up, I didn’t get in as many workouts as I wanted. I really thrive on a routine and following a plan – and although it’s been nice to do whatever I want and it has worked given everything else I have going on in my life, I’m ready for a challenge again! Beachbody just launched a new program called Clean Week which is a 4 workout intro to the programs for people who are new to Beachbody. I’m hosting a Clean Week group on August 30th but I’m going to actually try it out for myself this week! Looking forward to trying a new program! After that, I’m going to commit to a full round of 21 Day Fix starting with my challenge group on October 16th (I still have 5 spots left if you want to join- fill this form out!)
Team Beachbody is launching in the United Kingdom!!! I’m super excited to announce that on October 20th, Team Beachbody will be available in the U.K. That means that you can now be a part of my challenge groups and even enroll as a coach if you live there. This is an incredible opportunity for anyone who has been interested in the coaching opportunity because you’ll be one of the very first!!! If you’d like to hear more or join a challenge group, please email me at fitnessfataleblog@gmail.com or fill out this form.
Thoughts on the Boston Marathon. I still can’t believe that the cut off time for the 2018 Boston Marathon was 3 minutes 23 seconds! I think it was a combination of people training harder and getting faster and also cooler temps last year during the qualifying window. I really wonder if they are going to lower the times another five minutes again!? My heart breaks for those who qualified by 2-3 minutes and probably assumed they were going to get in. I sure know if I ran a 3:31:45 I’d assume I was in! Boston definitely is still a goal of mine and I actually now get an extra five minutes (I’m currently 33 but would be 35 on Boston 2019 race day) which definitely helps but there’s a big part of me that still NEEDS to break 3:35, five minute buffer or not. That five minute buffer is pretty nice tho (and like I said, we’ll see how long the current standards stay!).
Hamilton was the best musical I’ve ever seen! We were super lucky to be gifted tickets to see Hamilton in Los Angeles last weekend for our anniversary. It was an incredible show! Mike has been kind of obsessed with Alexander Hamilton ever since he read his (lengthy) biography, so he’s been telling me little tidbits about him over the last couple of years. He’s also been listening to the soundtrack since it came out and even sings the song “Someday” to Siena before bed while playing his guitar. Needless to say, it was a dream come true for him to see the show and I really enjoyed it. I’ve only seen a handful of musicals but this was definitely the best one. I really want to see it again!
Happy Monday everyone! I hope you have a wonderful week. I’ll be back soon…I have quite a few posts in my brain and as drafts but haven’t had a chance to finish them!
Do you think they’ll change the Boston qualifying times? Do you have a special birthday tradition with any of your kids? Have you seen Hamilton or do you want to see it?
I would love to see Hamilton! I’ve got the album downloaded and it’s great for long runs. Congrats on your move — it’s hard to get motivated about that last 20%.
I haven’t even thought to listen to it while running! Will have to try it!
A birthday tradition we had (well, we’d still do it, but two of them aren’t around on their birthdays anymore) is the hubby and I (and the two non-birthday kids) would meet up and walk into the birthday kid’s room, singing “Happy Birthday” to them. I know, CHEEZY…but they liked it when they were little, and I think they still appreciated it as they got older.
Awww thats cute! This year we blew up balloons and went into Siena’s room and put them in her crib and sang to her! She loved it!!!
Since I”m not planning on going to LV to run RnR in November, my husband and I talked about going to see Hamilton. But the tickets are so pricey! Sigh….
I think I need more trail races in my life–the type A thing isn’t working out so well for me!
I know, we were really lucky that we got them from our friend. Definitely worth the splurge though!!!!
Moving is so much more exhausting and stressful than anyone thinks. We moved almost a year ago and I am finally feeling moved in. I still have not seen Hamilton-on the list!
The Boston Marathon is on my bucket list! I don’t know if I would ever qualify. 5k is the only distance I can run 8 minute miles. I would love to see Hamilton! I hear it’s amazing!
What a great fall so far! I’m heading to the pumpkin patch tomorrow with my two little girls. This is the first time my oldest has any awareness of what’s going on so we should have some fun!
I do want to see Hamilton! The reviews are so great!!
That’s awesome that you had such a great experience during the trail half marathon!
We saw Hamilton last winter. Yes, amazing! That is such a cute family pic of you guys! Sadly I do think they’ll have to tighten the Boston standards again. I’m grateful I got to run it when I did….although my qualifying time would still get me in…barely! Happy Birthday to Siena!
Great that you enjoyed your trail half! I would love to see Hamilton – keeping my fingers crossed we can get tickets when it comes to Boston.
Your trail race seems fantastic–can’t wait to read the recap! Right now I can BQ…if I were an 85 year old woman (literally!) If I can just maintain this pace for another 30 years or so…
I would love to see Hamilton, I’ve heard so many great things about it! Love all your pictures too 🙂
Ugh the Boston times kill me. I am trying to BQ next year and am def looking to get a five minute buffer, but it’s gonna be hard. Happy bday to Siena!
