My Favorite Mompreneurs

The way we support our families is changing. While its tough to have a single family income these days, it’s equally tough to have two parents working full time. While each family is unique, more and more mothers are turning to network marketing companies to make a part time or full time income working from home, on their own time. Some of these mothers also work full time jobs while others, like myself, work a part-time job at the same time. Others stay home full time with limited or no child-care and do their network marketing during naps and in the evenings. However they get it done, a lot of moms are turning to sharing their passion with others via network marketing. The Direct Selling Association expects network marketing to continue to grow in the U.S. by 3% to 5% per year for the next three years. Forbes reports that one-third of working Millennials have a side job.
Your newsfeed may be full of friends sharing their favorite products with you these days (myself included!) and I’m sure everyone has their own opinions about this style of marketing, but I personally think it’s pretty awesome. I do my best to support my friend’s businesses and I think the fact that so many of us have been able to make an income doing something unconventional that allows us to live a lifestyle that works better for our family is pretty incredible. In that sense, I wanted to write a post to highlight some of my favorite mompreneurs, as you may call them. And while there are definitely network marketing people whose sales techniques I do not agree with, the ladies I’m highlighting here share their favorite products in an extremely genuine way.

Brooke Apffel – San Diego, California

Brooke is absolutely hilarious and super genuine about her business. She is a fellow San Diegan and we’ve bonded over toddler woes and pregnancy symptoms over the last year.
Kids: Knox Aaron (2.5), Reese Mae (1) and one on the way!
Company: Rodan + Fields
Why I Love this Company: Oh man, where do I begin. I love it because it is simple and fits my busy life so well….I don’t have to stock or ship product, I don’t have to throw parties or be anywhere at a specific time. Rodan + Fields was just named the number one skincare company across all of North America across every single price point, so to say I am proud to represent this brand is an understatement. Working with this company has empowered me in ways I didn’t know I needed, it has given me a community of like minded, motivated, intelligent people to inspire me daily, and most importantly, it has changed my family’s life. We are dreaming again, instead of living paycheck to paycheck, and that is the best part of it all.
Favorite Product and Why: This seems to change every few months but right now I am definitely obsessed with our Lash Boost. Not only did pregnancy wreck my lashes, lash extensions made it even worse. As a busy mom, I just wanted to be able to leave the house without mascara and without looking like I was dying, cue Lash Boost. This biotin/keratin conditioning serum strengthens, darkens, and lengthens your natural lashes and brows and it is UNREAL. Shoot me a message if you want to see my before and after, but let’s just say… before: my lashes were nubs at best, and now: they touch my eyebrows. The bomb diggity.
Get in Touch: Whether you are curious about this company or looking to switch up your skincare routine, our products are literally the best on the market so you really can’t go wrong. And I am offering a special deal for all Fitness Fatale readers. xoxo

Kid(s) Ages/Names: Cody (3)
Company You Represent: Beautycounter
Why You Love The Company: Beautycounter is a mission-based company that aims to get safer skin care products into the hands of everyone.  It prioritizes education and advocacy, and I love knowing that my work helps to support changes in the industry that will benefit everyone.  Beautycounter skin care, beauty, and hair care products are safe for babies, children, and pregnant and nursing women, so I can be 100% confident in recommending the products.  Also, the products are very effective (and often innovative), so they really sell themselves.  I love being a part of this movement and company!
Your Favorite Product & Why: My favorite Beautycounter product is the Charcoal Cleansing Bar.  It’s an effective and gentle face and body soap that detoxifies and provides a deep clean to brighten your skin.  The bar lasts a long time, so it’s a great value.  It’s a bestseller for a good reason!

It’s so awesome that you are supporting other moms and that you are all finding ways to support your families in ways that work for you. Being a mom now I completely understand wanting to work a flexible home-based job =)
