Kate’s 21 Day Fix Transformation Story

21 day fix results

I’m super excited to share this transformation story with you. Kate is my cousin and someone who I care about very much! Once Kate decided she was ready to join me, she has participated in my challenge groups month after month and not only have I watched her body transform, but her confidence as well! I asked Kate to share her 21 Day Fix (and other Beachbody programs) transformation  story with you, and here it is!

Kate’s 21 Day Fix Transformation Story

Hi everybody, I’m Kate, I’m 35 years old, a wife and mother of two young kids, also an emergency room nurse, gardener, and hiker. In my twenties I lived in San Francisco and spend most of my time walking the city, eating and drinking, and having fun– I never bothered to form healthy exercise habits. Life changed drastically when I met my husband. We had a whirlwind romance, broke up, I packed up and went traveling for a summer, and we reconciled when he caught up with me in Thailand only a year after our first date. Soon after arriving home, we discovered we were expecting Avi! He is now five. It has taken this long to get over the shock of becoming a mother. It has taken this long to start learning how to care for myself.

21 day fix transformation

Thisbefore photo is when I realized I had to do something. I was depressed. I was overwhelmed. I couldn’t keep up with the demands of motherhood, work, and running a household. I drank too much wine and ate too much junk food out of stress or boredom. And I hated getting chubby! My back started to bother me, and as a nurse, my back is my livelihood. So, two years ago, I started my first Whole 30. For 30 days, I filled each plate with two thirds vegetables, a palm-size portion of protein, a thumb-size portion of healthy fat, and maybe a piece of fruit. No dairy, legumes, grains, alcohol, or added sweeteners at all. It was challenging, but I was committed. I lost some weight and learned a lot about how to eat to make me feel good. The next year or so, my eating habits improved and so did my mood, but I still struggled a bit with binging, my back still hurt, and I knew I had to work in that exercise piece for general health, and especially to protect my back.

I have long admired Nicole for her strength, dedication, and all-around bad ass-ity, but every time I saw her Challenge group invitations, I never thought it was for me… until, one day, it was.

21 day fix before and after
Kate Before and After Joining My Challenge Group and Trying 21 Day Fix

I started out last July with 21 Day Fix. I stuck with the nutrition plan, did two rounds, and after 6 weeks I was down to my pre-baby weight (see photos). It was challenging, but I already knew I could stick with a restrictive diet, I knew how to cook healthy food, and I was committed to trying something new.

Since then, exercise has become a part of my daily routine. My life feels easier, I am stronger in body and mind, more confident in my abilities. These victories make it easy to keep going! That, and I remember how tough it was to get started. I don’t want to lose what I’ve worked so hard to gain. I was never a person who could work out at home, and getting to the gym costs too much time and money these days. Nicole’s challenge groups really work for me. Just clicking the button that I completed my workout for the day gives me a little thrill. Plus, it’s awesome to be a part of a supportive, enthusiastic, and inspiring group of people.

Now, while we are in the motherhood trenches, it is so important to do this one thing for ourselves. I love taking the time each day to care for my inner child, the same as I care for my children and husband. We all need healthy food and enough exercise! Now, I know need it. And I deserve it. I love discovering new things about myself, like I love kickboxing but I still hate cardio. I love lifting heavy things and I have done enough yoga now that Downward Facing Dog really is a position of rest. I can do 30 push-ups on my toes, but my triceps are still weak. To celebrate, I am planning a boudoir photo session for later this spring, after I finish 80 Day Obsession. I feel strong, sexy, and more like myself than ever before.

Thank you, Nicole, for the inspiration and support! Thanks, Beachbody on Demand, for such a variety of programs that I’ll never get bored.

I’m so proud of Kate! And since starting 80 Day Obsession when it released in January she has “broken through another plateau” in her words and is feeling renewed motivation and numbers on the scale she hasn’t seen since she was 19 years old.

If you’d like to try either 21 Day Fix, 80 Day Obsession or one of the many other Beachbody programs and have daily support from me, Kate and your fellow challengers (including Kate!), please join us on March 19th for my next challenge group. Wow, looks like Kate had some amazing success – both on her own and then with joining your program! I definitely can empathize with her as far as losing time for herself with healthy habits when she first had her son – it’s hard to get that balance.

Hi all – I’m Kate’s husband. I just want to say how incredibly proud I am of her for her amazing transformation. These pictures really do not do justice to how much her body has changed since she began to take fitness and diet seriously. Her commitment to DAILY transformation has been so inspiring! I think what I’ve found most inspiring is that she works out EVERY DAY, whether she feels like it or not. (Sunday is rest day, of course.) It is no longer something she has to push herself to do; rather, is has become part of who she is. Yes, the physical transformation has been impressive, but I am actually more in awe of her mental toughness and iron will than anything else. And our kids get to see their mom working hard at accomplishing something important to her on a regular basis. Keep up the great work, Kate! <3

It is always encouraging to read how exercise and shifts in what we eat can make such encouraging changes. Great job Kate!

What an incredible transformation! As a mother, I completely emphasize with Kate’s struggle to balance all of life’s demands. But if we don’t take the time to take care of ourselves, then its very difficult to take care of the ones that we love.
