Barre Blend Details & Barre Blend & Running Hybrid Schedule

In January, you’ll find me running to the barre!

Barre Blend will be Beachbody on Demand’s first ever barre program and I can’t wait!!! I am going to train for a March half marathon and low impact, strengthening barre will be a great compliment to my training and a great way to switch it up after the very intense completing 6 Weeks of The Work (which is a top 3 favorite Beachbody program for me, my review and results coming soon – I’ll finish the program Monday!).

Barre While Pregnant and Postpartum

I discovered barre several years ago – my friend Allison became an instructor at the Dailey Method and since I love trying anything new, I went for a class. Even though we were using tiny weights and tiny movements, THE BURN WAS REAL. I remember being humbled and SORE afterward, and I didn’t even have to wash my hair! I added barre classes (and later pilates) to my half and full marathon training for several years.

Barre Blend is safe for pregnancy! (Confirm with your doctor)

Throughout my first pregnancy I went to barre even more regularly. Since barre is low impact, it felt great for my body, especially compared to running! In fact, I went to barre class just a couple of days before I went into labor at 40 weeks pregnant! Once Siena was born, I went to a barre with baby class as well!

Barre is also great for postpartum!

To be totally honest, a big reason I didn’t continue going to barre regularly after kids was because of the time commitment to get to and from an hour long class (plus I’d have to sign up in advance and lose my money if I missed a class because something came up with the kids). Not to mention, barre classes are incredibly expensive, usually upwards of $150/month for a membership, NOT including childcare. When I heard that Beachbody was releasing a barre inspired workout program on Beachbody on Demand, I was thrilled!!!

Barre Blend Program Details

Barre Blend is a low-impact, high intensity barre program that focuses on creating long, lean muscles and a tight booty! Super trainer Elise Joan takes inspiration from her years as a professional dancer and fitness instructor to design full-body workouts that include high-rep, small-range movements and isometric holds, as well as compound exercises, targeted core work, and dynamic stretches.

Here are the high level details for Beachbody’s new Barre Blend program:

  • VIP Release Date: January 3rd (packages on sale NOW, access the first 5 workouts and 2 prep workouts)
  • Program Length: 8 Weeks, 5 workouts/week
  • Workout Length: 40+ unique workouts, 30-40 minutes a day
  • 3 levels of intensity per workout: Modifier (for beginners), Mid-level and Amplifier (more intense).
  • Every move is non-impact ( from what I understand, some amplifier moves involve jumping to increase intensity for those who want it).
  • Equipment needed: light (1-3 pound) weights & chair, couch, barre, or something stable to hold on to! Optional: resistance loops to increase intensity.
  • Bonus Workouts: Two 20 minute prep workouts, five 10 minute enhancement videos and three 10 minute recovery workouts

Barre Blend Workout Schedule

Here is a list of the workouts. Every week, these workout formats repeat, but the actual workout itself is different, just like in a live barre class! You will never do the same workout twice!

MONDAY – Classic Full Body Blend: This “classic” workout can help tone, chisel, and define your whole body. You can even do this one again on your rest days to help you get results faster.

TUESDAY – Booty Blend: Embrace the burn as you help lift and shape your glutes using small, controlled movements, isometric holds, and high reps.

WEDNESDAY – Cardio Blend: Every minute counts in this high-energy, heart-pumping class that can help burn calories fast while strengthening and toning all over.

THURSDAY – Core Blend: My ab-sculpting moves will help strengthen your core while helping you slim and tone all over.

FRIDAY – Lean Legs Blend: Your muscles will be shaking and quaking by the time you finish this intense lower-body routine that targets your glutes, hamstrings, and thighs.

Barre Blend & Running: Free Hybrid Schedule

I am training to run the San Diego Half Marathon on March 15th and I think that Barre Blend will be a GREAT program to do along with my training! I personally plan to drop the cardio workout each week and do the other 4 workouts along with 4-5 runs. If it ends up taking me longer than 8 weeks to complete the program, I’m ok with that, as running will be my main focus.

I put together two difference schedules to show examples of how you could combine Barre Blend and running. I even think Barre Blend would be a great option for strength training during marathon training!

Click here to download my FREE Barre Blend and running hybrid schedules. There are two schedules included:

  1. 8 Week Modified Barre Blend and Running Schedule. In this schedule, I’ve eliminated the cardio workout and added 3-5 runs per week.
  2. 12 Week Barre Blend and Half Marathon Training Schedule. I’ve extended the program so that you can complete every workout (3-4 a week) along with 4 runs leading up to a half marathon.
