It’s been a while since we just TALKED here and caught up. Instagram has kind of become my day to day catch up place and my blog has turned more into article-style writing. But I also want anyone who is still a subscriber (I know some of you are still out there!!!) to know what I’m up to too! Plus you can only fit SO much into the Instagram caption, am I right!?
The other day I was lying in bed, feeling overwhelmed by the kids and the house and everything on my plate and feeling behind on IT ALL. and for some reason the thought popped into my head – I WANT TO WRITE! I love writing, it’s something I’ve been doing since I was child. I always had a diary or journals full of quote (in my teenage years mostly love quotes, I was quite a romantic).
I started writing short stories and poetry in middle school and in college I planned to major in journalism – and then chose a college that didn’t offer journalism as a major! (oops!) I ended up going into communication studies and then the rational side of my brain convinced me to major in accounting and go into that as a career, forgetting all about my dreams to be a writer and to publish a book one day.
But my heart called me back. In August it will be 4 years since I left accounting and I have no intention of ever going back. Beachbody coaching, blogging, and Instagram have allowed me to continue to write, express myself, make friends and tell stories along the way. You never know where your heart will lead you, and I certainly never imagined it would lead me to a network marketing company (especially given how shy I was growing up!), but my Beachbody coaching business is the first thing I’ve ever done in my professional life that truly feels right. Like I’m following my passions and dreams.
Ok back to the coffee date. I don’t know where that tangent came from, but I’m not going to erase it. It felt good to just write and let it out! That’s what a coffee date would be like too, don’t you think!? My husband and I love to have conversations over coffee – when we’re alone, the topic ends up veering off in directions we’d never imagine. The day-to-day logistics forgotten.
So if we were to have coffee together today I’d tell you …
I’m one week out from San Diego Half Marathon and am starting to think about registering for a full marathon

Back in January, I re-joined my running group the Seaside Striders for weekly long runs, TOUGH Wednesday night speed workouts and tailored weekly training plans from coach Jim. The training is intense and I’m loving the challenge. I publicly announced my goal to run a sub 1:40 half marathon after a bit of runner’s high a few weeks ago and it’s the truth! I don’t think it will be possible for me at the San Diego half, but I am definitely putting down a solid foundation to get there this year.
The main set back I’ve had in training for this race was actually just this past weekend when I came down with the flu and had to skip 2 runs. I’m going to head out shortly for my first run in 5 days and I’m hopeful that it feels OK! I had a REALLY solid speed workout session last Wednesday and I know that most of the work has already been done for my race, so I’m not too worried about missing a few runs, but it’s not ideal!
The itch to run a full marathon is back and I’ve been researching Fall half marathons that are near Southern California. So far my best bet is the Big Bear Half Marathon which is in November. My running buddy from our training group, Megan, will most likely do it too which is great because it is so nice to have a running buddy on the same schedule! It does make a difference if their race is even a few weeks ahead or behind yours. So if she strongly suggests a different race I may be doing that. I probably won’t decide for a few more months. And yes, thoughts of BQing are back, especially since this is Revel (aka downhill) race, but we’ll see!
Announcing: Team Run The World!
For the last couple of years, I’ve been one of 4 leaders on our Beachbody coaching team called The Fit & Balanced Tribe. But as my team of personally sponsored coaches (and their coaches!) has grown, I’ve been wanting to create our own team so that some of my leaders can step up and grow into leadership too. It took me FOREVER to think of a name (I had the idea at Summit) but once it came to me, it felt SO RIGHT!
The name was actually inspired after 3 separate women came to me specifically to join my Beachbody coaching team because I am a runner. I looked at my team and realized that 90% of them were runners too. I wanted a name that would include running but not necessarily exclude non runners. I wanted it to be powerful and encompass feminine strength. Run The World is the perfect team name for us!!
We are very much still a part of the Fit & Balanced Tribe, but now we have our own little cohort and identity as well. We have a Team Run Club where we have a weekly Friday Run Chat and we are planning our first team retreat which will be a race!! One of the coaches on the team is not a runner and she may even do her first 5K with us! I have plenty of coaches on my team who aren’t building a business and are simply there for our sweet 25% off coach discount and the community and they are also included in our Run Chat and retreat if they’d like to be! I want everyone to be included, regardless of their Beachbody coach business aspirations.
And team Run The World was ranked 36 out of 350,000 Beachbody coaching teams in January!!! PROUD OF MY TEAM!!!! This means that we have momentum and that coaches on my team are having success!!!
Potty Training Twins: YIKES

What’s harder, potty training twins or sleep training twins?
I will write a blog post on this will all the details once we’re through this, but about a month ago, we decided to start potty training the twins. Rowan was showing signs that she was ready and according to the Oh Crap! method, they were in the correct age window (though at the lower end at only 22 months).
To sum up our progress: 2 steps forward, 1 step back. Scarlett wasn’t taking it well so we put her back in diapers but they she revolted and actually ended up doing better than Rowan. Rowan started to revolt and peed everywhere. We were sick of being stuck in the house so we put pull-ups on them for outings. Now were in this half-pull-up half diaper less hybrid situation. It’s definitely not text-book Oh Crap Method, but it’s working for us for now. Parent’s sanity is important too.
Mama Needs a Vacation

I’ve been working hard this year and I’m ready for a break. Mike and I are set to travel to Dominican Republic for the Beachbody Success Club trip in 2 weeks but obviously due to the Coronavirus, we’re kind of waiting to see how things progress to see how/if it will affect our trip. I will be VERY disappointed if we can’t go on the Dominican trip as it’s all expenses paid and I love hanging out with the other coaches on my team.
Since we have childcare coverage while we’re gone, if we don’t go on the trip, we’re planning to take a local trip on our own instead. We NEED this time! Life with 3 children 4 and under, particularly nearly 2 year old twins, is exhausting and frustrating and we need a break to reconnect with each other and to just not worry about anyone but ourselves for a few days.
Thanks for listening! I’d love to chat with you! Reach out on Instagram or email me at fitnessfataleblog at gmail.com!
