Home Gym for Under $500 [FREE GUIDE]

If you’re buying into a Beachbody program, it almost always comes with the equipment that you need. As long as you can press play and have some space, you’ll be fine to complete the workouts. Sometimes modifications will be needed, but you’ll get results.

NOTE: Prices are all over the place since the pandemic started as inventory has been out on a lot of items.

What gym equipment do you use at home?

Since I get many questions about what equipment is needed, I’m putting together my list of equipment that I have in the garage and commentary on each of the pieces.

Do you need to spend a lot of money? No. Do you want to invest in your future? Possibly!

Putting Together a Home Gym for Under $500

Adjustable Dumbbells – Approximately $325

Bowflex SelectTech 552 – Two Adjustable Dumbbells

Given the pandemic, pricing on these may be higher. If you are logged into PRIME these are $325 right now!

We’ve had our set of adjustable dumbbells for almost 10 years and still use them daily. These may be expensive but worth the investment if you have limited space and want to build an epic gym.

Pull-up Bar – Approximately $30

Multi-Grip Chin-Up/Pull-Up Bar

We used one of these for 5+ years. For me, I also use a chair or a pull-up assist. A couple years ago, we got a bit more space and added a pull-up bar that stands on it’s own. See tower pull-up bar here.

Gym Flooring – Approximately $80

Rubber Cal Elephant Bark Floor Mat

We have two 4 foot x 6 foot mats in the garage. If it’s just one person, you probably only need one mat. But if you workout with a partner, maybe pick up two of these.

This mat is made of recycled rubber. It durable and will help with shock impact if you’re jumping a lot.
