Our bodies send us signs – and sometimes we ignore them.
Earlier this year I was feeling an extra level of exhaustion. I told myself it was just because I was training hard for my half marathon, I have 3 small kids and I’m busy! But, during a discussion with my run coach, she mentioned that I may want to have my iron tested.
She said that I could get it tested at my doctor’s office but recommended @insidetraker because unlike most tests the doctor does, it would give me an EXACT number for my ferritin level. I decided to do their basic test to see what it had to say. It was easy to complete at a local lab and they even had a mobile option.
I was almost happy when I found out my iron was low!! At least it meant I could do something about my low energy. This InsideTracker review will answer all your questions about the process.
InsideTracker Test
In my first test I found out that both my ferritin (iron stores) & hemoglobin were VERY low. This was definitely contributing to my exhaustion and my disappointing outcome at my half marathon.
At the recommendation of InsideTracker and my coach, I started taking an iron supplement, along with Vitamin C, daily. I also slightly increased my intake of beans and red meat (egg roll in a bowl is my fav recipe to cook beef in a healthy way!).
When I shared my results, I discovered that this is SUPER common among women, especially runners. I started to shout it from the rooftops because it helped me so much and then I decided to partner with @insidetracker to help other women get important info that affects not only their training but their life, too!
After supplementing for 3 months, I took another test, this time the Ultimate Test + Inner Age test, which tested WAY more biomarkers.
My results showed 2 really good things and 2 things I need to work on:
My ferritin and hemoglobin were now in normal range!!
My inner age is 27 (my real age is 37, woohoo!).
My B12 is low (another thing that can lead to low energy).
My cortisol (hello stress) is high. This gave me a clue that I need to SLOW down and make some changes to reduce my stress level, even if I don’t FEEL stressed most of the time, apparently my body says I am.
Not only does InsideTracker give you your results, it gives you recommendations on how to improve. And these recommendations don’t always involve supplementation – they include dietary recommendations.
