Beachbody’s Sure Thing & Running Schedule and Tips

Beachbody (or now called BODi) just launched Sure Thing, it’s latest workout program from Megan Davies. As always, I plan to combine my running with Sure Thing! Here’s how I’ll combine Sure Thing and running as well as a free Sure Thing & Running hybrid calendar.

What is Beachbody’s Sure Thing & Is it Good For Runners

Sure Thing is an 8 week strength & conditioning program from super-trainer Megan Davies. As with all BODi programs, it includes a workout calendar with different workouts each day designed to continue to challenge you, maximize results & keep you accountable.

What is Type Training?

Sure Thing is an 8 week program with 30-45 minute workouts following a style of training hat Megan Davies Calls “Type Training.” The program includes 3 different formats of workouts that are grouped into weeks: Endurance, Power & Functional Recovery.

The functional recovery week is great for runners because it’s every 4 weeks, just like most half or full marathon training plans (the new BODi blocks will also follow this 3 weeks on, 1 week off format!). During functional recovery, you’ll do fewer workouts & the workouts will be slightly less intense to allow your body to recover. I recommend planning your running recovery week the same week.

Endurance workouts use lighter weights and higher reps to help sculpt your muscles and push your stamina to the max. Endurance workouts include EMOM (Every minute on the Minute Workouts) that everyone loved from Megan’s original program #MBF.

Power workouts use slow, controlled heavy lifting to help you build strength and muscle. The power workouts include pyramid training.

By mixing up the format of the workouts, you’re challenging your muscles in different ways, keeping things interesting and getting stronger!

Is Beachbody’s Sure Thing Good for Runners?

Sure Thing is a great program for runners to build strength!

Megan’s most famous program #MBF is one of my all time favorites and one of the most downloaded programs in all of Beachbody on Demand history!! I loved #MBF for runners and I love Sure Thing for runners too.

I love the recovery week & I know her workouts are quick yet incredibly efficient. She keeps your heart rate up too, so you’ll get some cardio vascular benefits that will boost your running, without adding on more mileage.

Is Sure Thing Recommended for Half Marathon or Marathon Training?

Get your Sure Thing & running training plan by joining the Best Run Year ever or purchasing separately.

I recommend Sure Thing as a great part of a base building or off season training for a half or full marathon. If you’re running 4 or more days/week, I recommend dropping the cardio workout. If you’re running 3 days a week, you could do all 5 Sure Thing workouts, but I still recommend you take a rest day.

You could even use Sure Thing workouts during peak marathon or half marathon training, but I’d recommend modifying the program to only do 2-3 workouts/week instead of 4-5. (This is how I trained for a marathon with LIIFT More, and go my Boston qualifying time!).

If you want a detailed half marathon, full marathon, 5K or 10K training plan combined with Sure Thing, I am offering them as part of my 2023 running BODi group, “The Best Run Year Ever. We will have 2 levels of half marathon training plan – an advanced plan and a beginner/intermediate plan.

As part of Best Run Year Ever, we will also provide a basic base building plan along with Sure Thing for runners who aren’t training for a race, but want to run with Sure Thing. If you’re already working with a BODi coach, you can also opt to purchase your training plan separately.

If you want a basic Sure Thing + Running plan, feel free to download my free version now!

What Kind of Results Can I Expect from Sure Thing?

Here are some of the results that have come out of the Sure Thing test group! These are 8 week progress photos to show what kind of progress you can make when you commit to a plan and program. The goal isn’t to just have an 8 week transformation with Sure Thing and it ends here. After you complete Sure Thing, you’ll be more motivated to keep up your healthy habits and can explore other BODi programs or the BODi blocks!
