Beachbody continues to be a company who innovates and anticipates changes & opportunities. The fitness and diet industry as well as social media are changing and Beachbody is continuing to change with the times. One recent change is the addition of a “BODi Partner” along with the traditional “Beachbody Coach.”
Beachbody Changes Its Name to BODi
In 2022, Beachbody CEO Carl Deikler announced that Beachbody is changing its name to BODi. He admitted that while the name “Beachbody” wasn’t coined with this intention, it was causing a focus on an ideal body type instead of wellness. Carl apologized and officially announced that Beachbody would become BODi.
There will be no more Beachbody Coaches

With the change, Beachbody coaches embraced the idea of becoming BODi Coaches. In January 2023, Carl announced that at some point BODi Coaches would be called “BODi Partners” instead. A BODi Partners can take on the traditional role of a Beachbody coach, OR they can simply become more of an affiliate or partner – a fan of the company who shares links to their favorite products but doesn’t “coach “anyone.
While after 6 years of supporting and coaching women through Beachbody programs, I DO consider myself a Coach and wear that title with pride, it was intimidating to me at first. I didn’t feel qualified to call myself a coach – it felt like it needed a certification or title.
What Does a Beachbody Coach Do?
Beachbody coaches connect people with world class fitness and nutrition programs created by Beachbody. We show people why we love these programs and products, what they’ve done for us and then we invite people to do it too. We have conversations with people to get to know their goals and see if this is a fit for them. Then we direct them the right product or package for them, and we earn a commission when they purchase it. From there, we are able to support them in virtual accountability groups on the Beachbody on Demand app’s community platform called “BOD groups.”
I’ve been a Beachbody Coach for 6 years now and it’s completely changed my life. I was an accountant that was tied to a desk 9-5 and constantly felt like I had to work more and more to rise in the ranks.
As an Elite Beachbody coach, I am able to do fulfilling work, set my own hours, never miss one of my kids events, spend quality time with my husband, have time to train for marathons, travel internationally with my family for a month at a time, and go to exciting conferences and work with positive, inspiring people. It’s truly been life changing and I believe the ‘coach’ route is the way to go for anyone who is ambitious and desires time flexibility while helping others.
Do Beachbody Coaches Have to Recruit Other Coaches?
A second way that Beachbody coaches earn income is by inviting other people to become coaches. This is not required to be a coach, but it does unlock several other parts of the compensation plan and allows the coach to create more income with their business. Beachbody coaches get paid for the productivity of their downline and teams.
When a team is successful, the leader earns more income. This element of Beachbody coaching is more similar to being the CEO of a business – when the business drives, the CEO earns more income on work that they are overseeing, but not doing themselves (This is also similar to the corporate world – when an Executive’s team is profitable, the executive earns a larger bonus.)
What are the Pros and Cons of Beachbody being a MLM?
This multi level marketing component of Beachbody Coaching has critics, but it’s truly no different than how ALL businesses are run. The main difference is that the independent Beachbody coach is self employed and has complete control over the amount of time, effort, and diligence they put into their work – the income is a direct reflection of that effort. Most people who become Beachbody coaches do not start out doing it full time, and therefore will not be paid full time incomes. If you want to be paid immediately for an hour of work you put in, then starting a business of any kind is not for you.
What Does a BODi Partner Do?
A “BODi Partner” simply partners with the company Beachbody to share products they love. A BODi partner gets a 25% off discount. A BODi Partner can earn commissions on affiliate links they post in social media or share with friends and family privately.
A BODi Partner….
- Uses BODi workouts or products regularly and would recommend them to others (doesn’t have to be ALL the products)
- May desire the extra accountability that bringing people along with them creates
- Does NOT have a desire to run or co-host accountability groups (anyone they refer can join their coach’s groups or doesn’t need a group)
- Does not desire to spend time on training or growth
- May be active on social media and desire to share affiliate links casually to earn extra income OR
- May NOT be active on social media and simply wants to refer friends and family the programs they love
- Still may consider attending the BODi coach summit or local events and may want to participate in team virtual happy hours or team community
What Does a BODi Coach Do?
Although they will soon have the same title, I will continue to distinguish between a BODi Partner and a Coach.
A BODi Coach….
- Desires to create a business
- Wants to be involved in new coach training and mentorship opportunities going forward
- Wants to host or co-host online accountability groups on BOD groups
- Wants to consistently earn an income
- Is committed to consistently showing up on social media and doing business activities regularly
- Wants to be involved in the coach community & attend annual conference
- A BODi coach CAN have a full time job or desire to work part time hours. The difference is more in the commitment level to making it work.
Which is Better for Me – BODi Partner or Coach?
In both cases, a BODi Partner and a BODi coach gets a discount on products, added accountability by referring others, and can be part of our coach community. The main difference is commitment and expectations. A BODi coach puts in effort and time with the expectation that they are working toward earning a more consistent income. a BODi Partner understands that their income will be inconsistent. In both cases, income is based on the coach or partner’s efforts.
What Does it Cost to be a BODi Partner
The cost to be a BODi Partner is a $15.95/month fee and $40 enrollment (which is waived with a total solution pack purchase). Current Preferred Customers get a 1 time free upgrade to coach/BODi Partner.
The fee goes toward maintaining your website that allows you to share your unique links. If you’re a coach, it also goes toward your continuing education/training. The cost is offset by the 25% discount if you use the products consistently.
I’m an Introvert – Can I be a BODi Partner?
In both cases, a BODi Partner a BODi Coach can be more immediately successful if they are someone who naturally enjoys making friends, networking, and sharing things they love. If you are part of many communities, you’re more likely to have MORE people who want to join you!
A BODi Coach who desires to help others but is introverted and has a smaller network and small social media presence CAN be successful too! Being successful isn’t always about QUANTITY, it’s about quality. Introverted coaches may be better at getting to know people on a deeper level and truly helping them. To continue to grow, it just means that introverted BODi coaches will have to work on their social media skills a bit more. (as someone who despite being shy & having resting bitch face has been successful as a Beachbody coach, I know you can too!). I have successful coaches on my team in both categories!
