I Quit Beachbody Coaching & Signed Up Again Later With a New Team…Here’s What Happened

I’m not sure if you know – but I once was a Beachbody coach who quit!

In 2011, I did the program P90X and it changed my life. My friend invited me to become a Beachbody coach so I signed up. People were asking me about my results so I figured I’d make some income!

I paid a $40 coach enrollment fee to sign up as a Beachbody Coach. When I got my business package in the mail, it prompted me to make some short term income goals & explain why those were important to me. I wrote that my short term income goal was to make $250 a month. I wanted to pay for vacations and help my mom in retirement.

After a year and a half of randomly selling P90X DVDs and the occasional Shakeology subscription, I quit Beachbody coaching.

Why I quit Beachbody coaching the first time:

* I didn’t know WHY I was coaching. Even though I didn’t love my full time job, I never thought Beachbody could become my job.

* I didn’t learn the steps to being successful. I just did what I thought might work.

  • I didn’t run accountability groups or challenge groups. Since I wasn’t actually HELPING the people I sold things to, it wasn’t as fulfilling.
  • I didn’t use my team for support. I never attended one team call or did one training. I went to one Super weekend event and didn’t attend Summit.

* My Beachbody income was inconsistent. Some weeks I’d make $0 other weeks I’d make money. I didn’t understand the Beachbody compensation plan or try to maximize it.

* I didn’t understand what it truly takes to be a successful Beachbody coach.

  • I stopped making money. Once I stopped doing the programs consistently and focused more on running, I wasn’t talking about it as much so I didn’t sell anything on my blog anymore.

Signing Up as a Beachbody Coach Again As a New Mom

In 2015, I had my first baby and went back to tried and true P90X to lose the baby weight and get back in shape. At that point I was reintroduced to Beachbody coach opportunity with a new team. Again, people were asking about my results and I was on maternity leave and feeling like I wanted a new challenge. I signed up as a coach thinking it would be the same thing – an occasional $32 paycheck here and there.

This time, things were different because I joined my Beachbody coach’s Facebook team page and started listening to the replays of the team calls (I couldn’t ever make them on live but luckily there were always recorded). Quickly I learned that there was a METHOD to making money as a Beachbody coach. I also learned that although rare, there was an opportunity to make a significant income.* I was determined to be one of those people who did that.

When my maternity leave ended, I quickly realized how much I liked not having to go into an office every day. I went back to my corporate finance job and was miserable. My daughter was in daycare and was constantly getting sick. I was pumping breastmilk 3 times a day at work. I was told I needed to get into work earlier, yet the only time I had for myself was the early morning when I could run or workout. But most importantly, I was doing work that wasn’t fulfilling to me.

The work I was doing with Beachbody – which at the time was running my own Beachbody Facebook challenge groups for 21 Day Fix – was really rewarding. I really liked that when I worked harder, I earned more money, unlike in my accounting job where no matter how many hours I worked, I earned the same amount.

I was on a run one day and I was listening to our weekly training call, The National Wake Up call. The woman on the call described how through her hard work in coaching she was able to create a significant income that allowed her to be home to get her son from the bus after school. As a latchkey kid myself, this resonated with me and tears pricked my eyes. I wanted o be the mom home after school with her kids. But I also wanted to earn an income for my family AND do meaningful work. I enjoy working – I just don’t enjoy being in an office all day doing work that doesn’t feel meaningful.

Using that vision to propel me and with lots of hard work, 6 years later, I am a top Beachbody coach. I walked my daughter into kindergarten on her first day and was home with her after school every single day. I got to speak on the National Wake Up Call and tell MY success story.
