QUIZ: Are You Fueling Your Half Marathon or Marathon Training Correctly?

Are you training for a half marathon or a marathon and you want to enjoy the process & feel like you’re making progress? Do you want be happy when you get to the finish line knowing you put in your best effort?

You’re putting in the training, but are you sure you’re fueling correctly?

A recent study showed that 2 out of 5 women who were training for the Boston Marathon were not fueling adequately to sustain their training. The crazy part is – the women who were under fueling showed NO difference in body weight from those who were fueling.

Under-fueling can be both intentional and unintentional. In fact, its often more unintentional.

Whether you’re training to finish a half marathon, or to qualify for the Boston Marathon, fueling matters. It impacts not just your performance, but your recovery, immune system, hormones and sleep. And I often find that under-fueling runs actually leads to weight gain due to overcompensation with less nutritious foods later in the day or week.

On the flip side, not adequately fueling during runs AND under-fueling overall can lead to low energy availability which will dramatically stall performance but also impact bone health & potentially stop your period.

I know its another thing on your to do list as a busy runner, but putting together and executing a proper fueling strategy is SO worth it.

Take a look at the below quiz and give yourself a score. Even if ONE of these apply, you could benefit from taking a deeper look at your fueling strategies.

quiz to see if you are eating enough during marathon training

Do not judge yourself based on your score. Simply recognize that there is room for improvement.

And if you want guidance and support in improving, consider joining the March Fueled challenge in our Run Fueled & Faster community.

The March Fueled Challenge focuses on helping you optimize your fueling before/during/after runs so that you can run faster, recover better & eat healthier overall.

Included in the challenge, just $35:

  1.  Fueling guide with guidance on how much and what to eat before/during/after different types of runs.
  2. A starting assessment to analyze your current habits & identify areas for improvement.
  3. Tracking sheets to help you analyze & improve your fueling.
  4. Ideas for what to eat.
  5. Guidance & accountability from a certified run coach & a community of like-minded female runners 35+.
  6. Optional Q&A coaching call & ability to ask questions in the group to get individual feedback.

Join before Tuesday to take part in the monthly coaching call (always recorded if you can’t make it live).

You’re leaving minutes or more on the table in your half or full marathon performance if you’re not fueling well. And even more importantly, you will FEEL so much better during training if you’re doing this correctly.

Don’t miss this opportunity to put energy & time into improving your fueling when you have the accountability to do it!

The challenge begins on Monday, March 3rd, but please join the community ASAP to get started, welcomed to the community & gain access all my bonus resources & training. Prices are still set at the low, founding members price of $35 for a limited time!

Questions? Don’t hesitate to email me!
